Australia closely monitors exports to China between reports. Concerns are surrounding the non-purchase of seven categories of Australian goods ranging from coal to wine, further exacerbating diplomatic tensions. Australian media reported that Chinese importers have been informally warned by customs officials that commodities such as copper ore and more will face increased inspections.
The trade in goods has effectively been halted for now and other products such as beef may be affected in the future. China buys nearly a third of Australia’s exports.
Relations between Australia and its main trading partner have become strained after Beijing was angered by Australia’s request for an international investigation into the source of the coronavirus.
Some Chinese importers had already shunned Australian products, even without explicit government orders……
